MacBaby

I am an unashamed Apple fanboy.

No doubt about it.

I made the wise choice about a year ago to ditch the PC, and to be honest, I won’t turn back. The other day I thought it would be fun to show my oldest daughter (3) my work laptop. We went through the dock icons and messed around with the touchpad. She loved it. I was a proud papa!

The next day she surprised me with the following gem:

With the exception of the Mashable app, she remembered each one. Wow!

Is she going to be a techie? Perhaps. Is she going to be a Grand Master of Memory? Maybe.

To be honest, I don’t know what “she’ll be”. But I do know what I can do: I can love. I can protect. I can serve. I can be an example. I can pray. I can lead.

Now… to just start working on my almost-two year old and three week old… gotta get them indoctrinated pronto!

Apple or PC? Favorite app?

Hey Dustin – that was a cool video. It’s amazing how our kids are so brilliant. I have 3 kids as well, and all of them have different personalities and strengths completely different from their siblings. I love it!

Your little girl is a techie in the making. Here memory is amazing!

I’m an OG – PC guy!!! I love and appreciate Apple and Mac – but I guess I’m just a little old school. I’m thinking about getting my wife a Mac – so I can check it out and see if I want to make the same move!

    This was a fun post…

Mac all the way. I’m pretty sure Jesus uses a Mac and the devil uses PC. I may or may not have made that up.

My favorite Mac App right now is Sparrow. A very simple email client.

As for your kids, just remember: train a child in the way (of Mac) and when they are older, they won’t turn from it. =D

Nice! Gabe wakes up in the morning, goes over to Megan’s MBP, open’s up Chrome and navigates to his websites to start watching videos and playing games(either NickJr or PBSKids). It’s amazing. We try to limit his time on it, but clearly he’s learning things.

Don’t have a favorite Mac app (though I do love Sparrow for Gmail and Evernote). Favorite iPhone app right now would have to be Tweetbot (and the updates to YouVersion are also pretty amazing).

Isn’t amazing when they are able to use the touchpad themselves, and navigate around? I remember taking the girls to the library a few months back and all of a sudden I realized they were on the computers, using the keyboard and mouse, clicking away…. I was like, “wha???”

    Dustin!
This was awesome! I think she may have memorized the letters in the pop up and it jogs her memory. When I was three I memorized my favorite book and I would take it places and read it to people. They thought I was a child prodigy, lol, so much for that. I just knew the thing inside and out.

I have a Mac and a PC and I don’t use the Mac. Why? Because every time I start to fiddle with it, it feels like it’s taking me so long to figure things out – so I retreat to my PC. Maybe one day I’ll take the plunge!

I’m late in the game but I have to say PC’s all the way. Well, that is PC’s running Linux. I know you can run Linux on a Mac, but it’s tough because they run PPC architectures..but it can be done. If it did come down to a Mac or PC with Windows I would still choose the PC. Most of the software once written exclusively for Macs are now being written for Windows causing the Mac to loose relevance. Since Windows platforms are more economical the choice will naturally gravitate towards Windows. In my opinion Mac’s are way too expensive. Since Apple computer has so unwisely chosen to keep everything so closed source in their hardware, and sell such hardware at inflated prices, they have shut off the majority of the market share.

There is also this myth that Mac’s never break down, or have problems. If this was the case there would not be a site called “Mac fix it”. This is where Mac geniuses get complicated questions answered like:
    -Login window stuck!
-lower caSe “S” key not working!!
    -Menu bar keeps flashing
    -I can’t drag and drop!

I won’t even get into applications!

Thank you for this discussion…It was fun:-> We may not agree on computers, but we still have Jesus!

    Blessings,

    Mark

First off, while we may not agree on the whole PC/Mac thingy, I’ll side with you on one area: Open Source > Closed. I work for an open source software company and certainly see the advantages!

      Thanks again for the comment!
